State Dept. contracts for Iraqi training

FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 24 (UPI) -- DynCorp International has been awarded a follow-on contract by the U.S. State Department for civilian adviser support work in Iraq.

Under the 22-month, $545.7 million International Civilian Police contract, DynCorp will continue to support the training of the Iraqi Police Service, Ministry of Interior and Department of Border Enforcement as part of the Iraq Civilian Adviser Support program.

DynCorp, which also supports civilian advising in Haiti, Sudan, Liberia, Afghanistan and for the Palestinian Authority, will recruit more than 800 civilian police advisers for advising, training and mentoring as part of the Civilian Police Advisory Training Team.

Officials say the contract is an initiative to strengthen law enforcement institutions and support services including "life and mission support, security services, information technology and communication services," the release said.
