Implant Sciences extends global reach

WAKEFIELD, Mass., June 11 (UPI) -- Implant Sciences Corp. has received new orders for its portable explosives detector technologies from the European and Asian security markets.

Massachusetts-based Implant Sciences announced it has received more than $4.2 million in orders for its trademarked Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 explosives detectors. The source of the orders was not released, but officials say the customers in Asia and Europe are a part of the company's plan to expand its global reach.

The QS-H150 provides security authorities the ability to recognize a wide range of trace amounts of explosive threats.

"One of our ongoing objectives has been to increase sales from existing customers while also adding new geographic locations where we do business," Phillip Thomas, Implant Sciences president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"These new orders are a partial fulfillment of our diversification goal as we are beginning to see expanded use of our products to help meet security needs in various countries."
