BAE contracts for FRMV crane hoist winch

UNIONDALE, N.J., May 15 (UPI) -- New Jersey-based Breeze-Eastern Corp. says it has been contracted to develop a crane hoist winch by BAE Systems Land and Armament-Ground Systems.

The $2.3 million deal with Breeze-Eastern for a crane hoist winch will go to support the U.S. Army's future combat system field recovery and maintenance vehicle. Officials say the FRMV is designed to recover unmanned and manned ground vehicles from areas previously inaccessible to heavier recovery vehicles.

"Breeze-Eastern is pleased to again be selected to develop a lightweight and innovative winch for the field recovery and maintenance vehicle," Robert White, Breeze-Eastern president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "This contract further strengthens our commitment to support BAE and the U.S. Army's FCS FRMV program."

Officials say the announced contract is a follow-on deal with BAE from a previous contract for $3.7 million for the development of the FCS FRMV main recovery winch.
