New remote capabilities for sensing system

BOSTON, April 23 (UPI) -- Massachusetts-based Cambridge Consultants announced the launch of a new remote capability for its high-risk radar sensing technology.

Cambridge Consultants' Prism 200 compact through-wall radar is now capable of operating from a remote laptop application. Officials say the new Prism 200, deployed by police and Special Forces among other security personnel, is a detection device that can locate people through walls in high-risk and dangerous situations.

With the launch of the new remote capabilities the Prism 200 now only requires a sole operative or robot for deployment that officials say improves both safety and discretion when managing hostage situations or when searching a building for suspected terrorists among other threats.

"Our new application removes the need for a team to be in close proximity when using Prism 200 and so reduces the chance of detection in surveillance or hostage situations," Alan Wiltshire, Cambridge Consultants Prism 200 program manager, said in a statement. "The additional data recording capability can be used to collect information for use in post-mission debriefing or for training purposes. During a recent training course for the police it became clear that the capability could also be used for evidential purposes."
