Army contracts Comtech for tracking system

MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army announced it has contracted New York-based Comtech Telecommunications Corp. for the company's movement tracking system technologies.

Comtech Telecommunications, an advanced communications solutions provider, announced its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp., will provide the MTS systems to the Army.

Under the $6.7 million deal, the company will supply the MTS systems that officials say "feature Comtech's Model MT-2012 mobile satellite transceivers integrated with both ruggedized and control station computers, miscellaneous hardware, installation kits, program management, and technical support services," the release said.

"We are pleased to have received these most recent MTS orders," Fred Kornberg, Comtech Telecommunications president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "We look forward to our continued involvement in the MTS program and the continued deployment of our satellite products and related technology."
