PARIS, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A new book by France's former prime minister is sparking debate and speculation about his possible presidential ambitions.
"Le Monde Comme Je le Vois," or "The World as I see it," by former Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin doesn't hit French book stores until next Thursday, but it has already created a flurry of media attention.
In excerpts published Thursday in Le Nouvel Observateur magazine, Jospin offers his analysis of the French "non" to the European constitution -- a result, he concludes, of their "triple confidence crisis" regarding the French government, the European construction effort and of themselves.
Jospin also denounces the economic policies of the current center-right government, and offers his take on socialism as "an ethical vision and a political method."
Jospin bowed out of political life after losing the 2002 presidential elections. However, his new book is fueling speculation he may run again for president in 2007.
