Canada gets tough new anti-terrorism bill

OTTAWA, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Canadian Justice Minister Anne McLellan introduced in the House of Commons on Monday a new anti-terrorism bill that allows for preventive detention, and gives police sweeping new powers to tap telephones and email. The bill makes it a criminal offense to participate in or finance acts of terrorism, or to instruct a person to carry them out.
