Lockheed opens cyber center

ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md., April 25 (UPI) -- A cyber center of excellence near Fort Meade, Md., was officially opened Thursday by Lockheed Martin.

The center -- 56,000-square-feet in size -- will further expand, integrate and connect employees, customers and industry partners in Lockheed's cybersecurity work.

"We're looking ahead -- we know the importance of the cyber mission will continue to grow for our customers," said Tim Reardon, president of Lockheed Martin IS&GS National.

"Lockheed Martin's talented workforce, cutting edge technology, and state-of-the-art facilities like this position us to meet the cyber challenges and needs of a diverse range of missions and customers."

The center holds laboratories, training facilities and an innovation center.

"We appreciate Lockheed Martin's continued investment in our county," said Laura Neuman, Anne Arundel County, Md., executive. "The opening of the Cyber Center of Excellence further solidifies Anne Arundel County's reputation as the nexus of cybersecurity development."

Fort Meade is a major intelligence center for the U.S. government and military.
