New security solution for mobile devices

ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Secure authentication for consumer mobile devices has been enhanced by U.S. companies Lockheed Martin and Fixmo Inc. through technology integration.

Lockheed said the new product is called "Secure Gesture" and uses its Mandrake SG technology and Fixmo SafeZone, a defense-grade solution for Android devices that keeps corporate email, browsing, documents and applications encrypted, contained, and under IT control.

Mandrake SG -- Special Gesture -- gives the users of smartphones and tablets the capability to authenticate into Fixmo SafeZone with a simple user-defined gesture.

"We're eager to share this capability with current and new customers with high security requirements who are seeking an innovative and user-friendly solution," said Darrell Durst, vice president for Lockheed Martin's Cyber Solutions business.

"This collaboration brings the best of our technology together to enable secure and compliant mobile computing in the workplace without compromising the end-user experience or regulatory requirements."

"Through our collaboration with Lockheed Martin, we can now protect all business apps and sensitive data on mobile devices with some of the most powerful multi-factor authentication technology that we've seen to-date -- without requiring the user to remember a highly complex passcode or carry additional hard tokens or smartcards," said Bruce Gilley, president of Fixmo U.S., a risk management company for mobile devices.
