WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Oshkosh Defense has been awarded a $6.75 billion contract by the Pentagon to manufacture the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) to replace the Humvee.
Oshkosh Defense, based in Wisconsin, beat competitors Lockheed Martin and AM General for the contract. AM General has been manufacturing the Humvee, or High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), since the 1980s.
