CUPERTINO, Calif., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. technology firm Apple has signed a deal with support service Unisys Corp. to extend its presence beyond a consumer audience, a Unisys executive said.

"Most of those organizations are still pretty heavily PC-based. Apple is going to crack the nut and clients are going to start buying a lot more," Unisys managing partner Gene Zapfel told Eweek.

EWeek said a major focus was security issues, especially given an IDC report prepared for the company that said private and company content "is freely mingled" among employees.

Crossing lines between personal and company applications of computers, mobile phones and other devices can create a variety of problems, including company processors carrying inappropriate content and corporate or government secrets being revealed.

The report said there was a "disconnect … regarding device/app usage and permissible activities."

Zapfel said, "We've put a lot of heavyweight engineering into securing the device, which, frankly, no one else has figured out yet," referring to iPhone security.
