Texas draws a bead on seven accountants

HOUSTON, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- The Texas state accounting board wants to discipline seven former Arthur Andersen accountants allegedly involved in the Enron Corp. collapse.

The board accuses the seven of failing to adequately scrutinize and report financial events that led to the energy trading giant's collapse, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

If the board's accusations are sustained, the seven could have their accounting licenses suspended or revoked.
