TOKYO, June 28 (UPI) -- Microsoft has joined forces with the Japanese Police Agency to boost Internet security and fight crime in cyberspace.
A hot line will enable Microsoft to provide the police with information on network safety technology, and efforts will be made to fight high-tech crimes that are increasingly becoming more sophisticated.
Speaking in Tokyo Monday, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said international cooperation was needed in cases in which criminals transcend national borders by exchanging information online. He said authoritative control was mutually beneficial and that the relationship was important, highlighting Microsoft's intention to cooperate with police
It is reportedly the first time that Microsoft has entered this kind of agreement with a judicial body, the Mainichi Shimbun reported Tuesday.
