CeeLo Green to leave 'The Voice' after four seasons as mentor

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- On Wednesday, CeeLo Green announced on the Ellen Degeneres Show that he is leaving NBC's The Voice. Green served as a mentor and coach to hopefuls in the singing competition show for four seasons, 1-3 and 5.

Green surprised Ellen and viewers by revealing that his split from the show will be permanent. He stated, "I have so many other things that I want to do" and "...other ambitions that I want to see through that will require my undivided attention." Green currently has a summer tour with Lionel Richie planned, and is almost finished working on a new studio album.

Green expressed that he will miss The Voice and that he "didn't mean to drop the bomb" with his announcement on Ellen.
