Man calls 911 over wife's stuck zipper

This does not count as an emergency.

By Aileen Graef

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- A man called 911 because his wife's jacket zipper was stuck, and he wanted emergency help to free her.

After he called 911 and explained the problem, the dispatcher was understandably confused. She asked if the wife wasn't breathing in order to determine the exact emergency. He reassured her that his wife was fine and he needed emergency assistance. When the dispatcher reasonably suggested that he cut the jacket off, he responded, "No I don't want to cut it off, it's a nice jacket."

Firefighters were dispatched to the house and helped the woman out of her jacket.

The call was released on the Washington County dispatch agency, "You called 911 for that?!" website, which is dedicated to informing citizens of the appropriate times to call emergency services.
