Real-life Spider-Man climbs 1,500-foot rock with no gear

Do not look down.

NUEVO LEON, Mexico, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Climber Alex Honnold scaled the 1,500 foot rock wall El Sendero Luminoso in Mexico with no rope, no net and no climbing gear.

It's called "free-soloing," and Honnold did it on the wall, which is rated a 5.12D on the Yosemite decimal system -- meaning the surface is as smooth as glass and vertical.

He climbed with his bare hands using the tiny crevices to move himself up the wall. The climb can take up to two days but Honnold did it in just 3 hours, giving credence to the moniker the "real-life Spider-Man."

The climb was documented by the Camp for Collective for the North Face.
