Republican Governors Association raised plenty of money, despite Christie scandal

Despite Chris Christie's political backlash over the closing of the GW Bridge, campaign money doesn't seem to be a part of it.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The Republican Governors Association raised a record amount of money in campaign cash for the month of January, despite the scandal surrounding Chris Christie.

The RGA said in an news release that they raised $6 million in the month of January. That is not only a record for the month but is twice the amount they made in Jan. 2013.

Christie is the chair of the RGA and has taken political heat for the scandal surrounding the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge as a suspected part of political payback on a local mayor.
