LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Jerry Seinfeld's very anticipated "secret project" was unveiled during Sunday night's Super Bowl as he appeared in an ad featuring a pseudo Seinfeld reunion. The 90-second clip was an advertisement for the actor's web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and it featured Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Wayne Knight in character as Jerry, George and Newman.

The promo aired right before Bruno Mars' Pepsi-sponsored halftime show. It presented Jerry and George in a booth at Tom’s Restaurant in Manhattan, as they discussed why George wasn't invited to the Wassersteins' Super Bowl party. As the pair chats, Newman makes an appearance and lets them know he's on his way to the party himself.
Seinfield explained the nature of the mini-reunion in a statement released shortly after the commercial aired.
“Fox approached (Seinfeld co-creator) Larry (David) and me about doing some kind of Seinfeld reunion for the halftime broadcast because of the New York connection,” he said. “So we thought throwing Jerry, George and Newman into a Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee was a fun way to do it. Larry and I wrote the script in one sitting, just like old times, and working with him, Jason and Wayne was a total blast as it always was.”
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is a web series developed by Seinfeld in 2012 where the 59-year-old actor picks up comedians in his car and takes them out for coffee.
