NAPERVILLE, Ill., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Grant Muren, 21, was arrested for allegedly murdering his roommate, Charles Clark, 55, 8 hours after moving into their shared townhouse.
Muren met Clark through the website Craigslist while looking for housing and shortly after moving in attacked his new roommate. Police say the attack happened after Muren had a sexual encounter with Clark. The autopsy showed Clark had the tip of his thumb bitten off and that he died of strangulation.
Clark has had a history of violence according to his record, and his mother filed a domestic abuse case against him in 2008. Muren is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide.
Police say that after the attack Muren tried to set his lease paperwork on fire in a toaster and filled the home with natural gas from the oven. He later confessed to the attack and is being held on $2 million bail.
