PALM BAY , Fla., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Eastern Florida State College in Palm Bay, Fla., was placed on lockdown Thursday after a shooting in a campus parking lot sent two men to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All three men involved are claiming self defense.
Amado Contreras and Landyer Contreras reportedly approached an EFSC student named Landrick Hamilton at around 1:30 p.m., according to police reports. Their argument turned physical when they started to beat Hamilton with a pool cue.

Hamilton then retrieved a gun from his car and shot Amado Contreras, authorities said.
"We just heard a gunshot. Well, we heard a loud, 'Pow, pow!' We didn’t know. We didn’t know exactly what it was," a witness told WFTV. "No one was alarmed, [and] then we just saw people running over there."
Hamilton also went to the hospital with head injuries sustained during the initial confrontation.
The lockdown was eventually lifted, with classes canceled for the day.
