After six months held captive in a motel room, Sheena Herschbach saw her opportunity to escape and she took it.

Abducted by a boyfriend and held under threats, Herschbach, 26, decided she'd had enough and escaped to the library Saturday.

There, she logged onto her Facebook page and posted:

“I just want to let every one know I’m sarry I whant to come home but he wont let me yes Jason don’t knoe im online in mesquet novata at the mv motel.”

A friend saw the note, and that night, her captor, 34-year-old Jason Greniger, was arrested.

Six months ago, Greniger, with whom she has three children, picked up Herschbach from her home in California. He told her they were headed to Minnesota, and threatened to kill her children if she resisted.

But rather than going to Minnesota, where Greniger is from and where two of Herschbach's other children live with their biological father, he took her to a tiny motel in Mesquite, Nev.

For six months, they worked as housekeepers at one motel, then another, and Greniger never let Herschbach out of his sight. He would allow her to go to the gas station across the street to pick up beer and groceries, timing her trips, beating her if she stepped out of line.

“He finally pushed me for the last time,” Herschbach said. “I just said the heck with it. I went to the library, went online and talked to my sister.”

Greniger was booked at Clark County Detention Center and charged with second-degree kidnapping, Mesquite police said.

Herschbach said Greniger began to physically abuse her shortly they began dating in 2009. Despite their violent history, she repeatedly returned to him. In 2012, she got a protective order against him and moved from Minnesota to California, but he followed her there.

And in 2013, Greniger pleaded guilty to charges of felony malicious punishment of a child under 4 and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Their three children are now in permanent foster care.

Greniger is being held without bail on an outstanding warrant from Minnesota.
