Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Kellan Lutz is making the media rounds to promote his latest film, The Legend of Hercules, which means entertainment reporters finally get to approach him about weeks of rumors that he's dating Miley Cyrus.
The 28-year-old Twilight star sat down with the ladies of the Today show's boozed-up fourth hour on Wednesday, telling Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb that he didn't understand why the press jumped on certain photos of them together.
"Do you see that picture?" he said. "I mean, why would you assume that someone was dating (from that)?
"It's comical for me," he said. "I'm a public figure, she's a public figure, I've been friends with her for six years and we're in the same circle.... I'm dating everyone these days, let's just start that rumor!"
Lutz made similar denials on Tuesday, telling E! News that he loves "hanging out" with Cyrus because "because she is who she is and she's such a shining star."
But he said he could only joke about the dating rumors.
"For Miley, I've been friends with her for six years now and we run in the same circle…it's always interesting when two public figures who might be single are seen together. Oh let's start a rumor that they might be together…I just laugh it off," he said.
