Bruno Mars named Billboard artist of the year [VIDEO]

Bruno Mars' 'Unorthodox Jukebox' was in the Billboard top 20 for every week since its debut in December 2012 through September.

Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Bruno Mars was named Billboard's top artist of the year for 2013 after remaining in the top 20 every week since the debut of "Unorthodox Jukebox" through September.

The album debuted at No. 2 last December and hit No. 1 in its 12th week, Billboard said. The album spawned three top 10 singles, including "Out of Heaven," which spent six weeks at No. 1, "When I Was Your Man," which was No. 1 for one week, and "Treasure," which hit No. 5.

Mars' Moonshine Jungle world tour finished in at No. 23 in Billboard's Top 25 Tours list, and had a total attendance of 667,000, with a gross of $46.4 million.

His world tour is back in action Feb. 28 with 10 dates in Australia and New Zealand before heading off to Asia Nov. 20 and Mexico City Sept. 2.
