(UPI) -- Jon Lester spent Thursday explaining a green glow that appeared inside his glove during his Game 1 World Series victory.

During the game, Cardinals minor Tyler Melling leaguer called Lester out for being a cheater on Twitter after pulling a substance out of a bag on the mound.

"Jon Lester using a little Vaseline inside the glove tonight?" his tweet, which has since been deleted, read.

More images surfaced of the green glove glow, including a Vine that shows his glove in motion.

Before Game 2, both Manager John Farrell and Lester said that the left-hander sweats a lot when he pitches.

“If you know Jon Lester, he sweats like a pig and he needs resin,” Farrell said. The rosin, usually kept in a bag behind the mound, helps him dry his hands and get a clean grip the ball.

“I know, talking to our own hitters, they want to be sure that a pitcher has got a complete grip of the baseball,” Farrell said. “If a hitter in the batter’s box has a little more comfort knowing the pitcher has a good grip, then maybe they’re a little more at ease as well.”

No one had an explanation as to why the rosin showed up as green.

“I saw the picture, and I don’t know why that is,” Lester told a huge throng of reporters. “It looks like a giant booger almost. I don’t know how that came about. The lighting, I don’t know how that is.”
