(UPI) -- Miley Cyrus never fails to surprise.
The media has gotten so used to the 20-year-old singer's penchant for nudity, tongue wagging and outrageous dance moves that photographers and fashion reporters were shocked by her relatively demure look at a Tuesday night gala in New York City.
Cyrus wore a backless, sequined Marc Jacobs gown to the 2013 FGI Night of Stars, where she presented the designer with this year's Superstar Awards.
"I got to give the biggest superstars in the room a pretty rad award. Congrats to Robert and Marc," Cyrus said of the honorees.
The pop star also opted for simple Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Saint Laurent heels.
