(UPI) -- A group of football fans exhibited very unsportsmanlike behavior outside an exit gate at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Sunday. After the New York Jets unexpected victory against the New England Patriots, a woman wearing Patriots' colors grabbed a male Gang Green fan wearing a No. 60 Wayne Chrebet jersey. The man responded by punching her in the face.
Deadspin obtained video of the event from a bystander named Rob.
"Fight started in the stands with two girls fighting," he explained. "And moved out to where I shot the video. Beer was thrown and clothing over the balcony. Security went after the guy. Didn't see what happened after that."
A second video popped up on YouTube showing the fight from a different angle:
A rep for the Jets told NBC New York that state police are investigating the incident.
The New York Daily News claims to have identified the Jets fan as a 36-year-old Long Island bartender.
He’s the victim, really,” his mother told the Daily News. “He was just concerned for his mother and himself.”
“He was just hitting back to defend himself,” she added. “It wasn't done deliberately. If you see the video, they just went wild.”
