(UPI) -- Although Fenway bullpen cop Steve Horgan’s celebration after David Ortiz’ game-tying grand slam has made him an instant Internet celebrity, not everyone is pleased with Red Sox Nation’s new No. 1 fan.

Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter was also immortalized in photos after he went headlong over the bullpen fence in pursuit of Ortiz’ blast. He took time on Monday to joke about what happened during Boston’s eventual 6-5 walk-off victory over the Tigers on Sunday night.

“I should have kicked [the cop] in the face,” Hunter joked. “I want to thank the Red Sox bullpen for checking on me. That was awesome. … They put [the game] aside in favor of human life, unlike the cop. Protect and serve? They ought to take that off his badge.”

Photos of Horgan, a 27-year veteran Boston cop, were featured on the front pages of many local newspapers and also were posted by outlets like the Huffington Post, USA Today and ESPN.

Horgan, 50, has been trying to keep a low profile since Sunday.

“I was looking at it, and I was like, ‘Is that him? Is that him?’ Now I know why when I walked the dogs, there were 20 cars out there and all kinds of media equipment,” said Horgan’s neighbor Rachel Meegan. “He’s kind of quiet. He’s so soft-spoken. I know he loves the Red Sox details. I know he loves that.”
