Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Arizona is no stranger to making headlines, from making his inmates wear pink underwear to requiring his deputies to carry AR-15 assault rifles at all times -- even off duty.
Now he's banning meat from all Maricopa County jails. Arpaio says he isn't doing it to upset the inmates, rather to cut costs. Instead of beef, the vegetarian jails will now serve soy.
Inmates will also be charged for the meals -- a change that will go into effect sometime in the next month or two.
