A Maine lobster's genetic defect might have saved it from the dinner table.

Captain Peter Brown and lobsterman Richard Figueiredo -- whose boat, the Rachel Leah, is featured on the Discovery Channel's "Lobster Wars" -- recently caught an unusual-looking lobster off the coast of Hyannis, Maine.

Affectionately named Lola, the lobster has five claws on one side of its body and one normal claw on the other. Brown and Figueiredo have now donated it to the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor, which boasts a large collection of "weird lobsters."

“Sometimes the genes will just get a little mixed and it will grow a funny claw,” David Libby, a marine scientist at the aquarium said of Lola's unusual feature. “But I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Lola goes on display next week.
