Ernest Wallace pretrial postponed; Hernandez up next in court

A pretrial hearing for Ernest Wallace, an alleged accomplice of Aaron Hernandez in the murder of Odin Lloyd, was postponed today and will be rescheduled at Attleboro District Court after an agreement was reached by both sides in the case.

Wallace had agreed to be held without bail until Monday. He approved an extension this morning, spokesman Gregg Miliote said. The hearing this morning would have given Wallace's attorney a chance to address extensive evidence that has surfaced during the Lloyd investigation.

Carlos Ortiz gave his version of the events that led up to 27-year-old Lloyd's death, and his affidavit was used for search warrants in Florida and Massachusetts. Prosecutors have not yet said who fired the fatal shots, but Ortiz said that Hernandez did the shooting.

Hernandez is charged in the first-degree murder of Lloyd after evidence found in his home, a secret apartment and a car rented under his name were found to be related to the murder. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty and is being held in jail without bail.

Hernandez is scheduled to return to court for a probable cause hearing Wednesday, where prosecutors may disclose more information than is already in the public record.
