Nikon releases new distortion control software

Japanese multinational corporation Nikon has released a new Distortion Control Lens Data firmware that can be used to correct barrel and pincushion distortion.

The 1.009 version of the firmware will be compatible with Nikon’s D4, D90, D600, D800, and D800E devices, as well as the D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, D5200, and D7000 products.

The platform is compatible with wide-angle, standard, telephoto, and high-powered zoom lenses, single focus lenses, as well as telephoto and macro lenses.

Users would can download the software for both Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 operating systems and Apple's 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, and 10.7 platforms.

According to Softpedia, users that choose to download the software should be careful to not interrupt the process or use the camera's controls during the update as this could cause serious damage to the device.
