CVS, Walgreens will not sell Rolling Stone with Tsarnaev cover

A sneak peek of the August Rolling Stone issue shows Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover.

The issue is set to hit newsstands Friday, but as controversy has risen, several retailers have decided it will not ever make their shelves, including CVS Pharmacy and New England grocer Tedeschi Food Shops.

"CVS/pharmacy has decided not to sell the current issue of Rolling Stone featuring a cover photo of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect. As a company with deep roots in New England and a strong presence in Boston, we believe this is the right decision out of respect for the victims of the attack and their loved ones," the company's Facebook page said.

Later in the day, pharmacy chain Walgreens followed suit.

The cover has sparked a storm of complaints on social media, saying that the selfie of Tsarnaev makes him look like a rock star, glorified as if he were Jim Morrison.

Tsarnaev is accused with his late brother of setting off bombs on April 15 near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to 30 charges brought against him last week.
