After the Lakers dropped him from their roster, another NBA team has a chance for World Peace.

Metta World Peace has started to weigh his options for next season. So far, the New York Knicks are the most likely pick for the small forward.

World Peace was waived by his former team Thursday using the league's one-time amnesty clause. A two-day waiver process followed, which allows teams to bid on the remainder of his salary.

World Peace will still get the $7.7 million the Lakers owe him, but should a bidder buy in, they would help shoulder the cost of taking on his contract.

World Peace wants to play for the New York Knicks, according to a person close to the former Laker.

World Peace cleared waivers late Sunday, which made him an unrestricted free agent. The Knicks have already have reached out to World Peace, and could offer him roughly $1.7 million. He is expected to meet with the team's executives in the next two days to work toward a contract agreement.

The player's Twitter has shown him all over the place as far as what his next step might be. He has said he might consider retiring, playing in China or playing arena football.

If a team were to claim him, he would not earn the $7.7 million if he decided to move on from the NBA. The only teams eligible to bid on World Peace are those that have not met their salary caps, including the Knicks, Clippers, Bulls, Pacers, Heat and Thunder.
