The Colorado Attorney General's office filed a discrimination complaint against Masterpiece Cakeshop, a bakery that Charlie Craig and David Mullins said denied them a wedding cake last year, FOX 31 reported Thursday.

The complaint said that the owner refused to bake them a wedding cake when he found out it was for a ceremony celebrating their marriage in Massachusetts.

Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips said that he would sell merchandise to gay people, but wouldn't bake them a wedding cake.

“I’m a follower of Jesus Christ, so you could say this is a religious belief,” Phillips said. “I believe the Bible teaches that [homosexuality] is not an OK thing.”

Mullins called the incident "awkward" and "surreal" in a Facebook post.

Phillips told FOX 31 last year that his stance on same-sex marriage had actually helped his business.

“We had about twice as much business as normal,” Phillips said after his refusal made national news last year. “There are people coming in to support us.”
