After 23 years of sobriety, Phillip Seymour Hoffman relapsed into substance abuse, according to the New York Daily News.

A year later, he checked himself in to a 10-day detox in rehab. The abuse started with prescription drugs and escalated to snorting heroin, he told TMZ.

The heroin use only lasted a week, Hoffman said. He checked out of the 10-day stint on Friday.

The "Capote" Oscar-winner is clean again and has returned to a movie set in Europe.
