Queen Elizabeth may be getting up there in years, but her reflexes are as sharp as ever.
The 87-year-old monarch attended the funeral of former Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher Wednesday with Prince Philip when she had a bit of a close shave with a ceremonial sword.
The Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Roger Gifford, greeted the royal couple and then turned to lead them toward the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Gifford had a ceremonial sword, the official state Mourning Sword, strapped to his hip, and the blade slashed through the air just inches from the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth seemed a bit startled, but Prince Philip's grin is priceless.
(No British royal has been executed since James Scott, Duke of Monmouth and the illegitimate son of King Charles II, attempted a coup against King James II in 1685.)
