A suicidal man wrote a note, sent his ex a goodbye text, and was all set to end his life when he accidentally stepped on a remote and his sister's DVD of the British version of "The Office" began playing.

He spent the next five hours laughing at bumbling boss David Brent, played by Ricky Gervais. Brent's famous catchphrase, "Fact," helped cheer up the father of two.

Parrish, who was heartbroken after a six-year relationship ended, told The Sun, "David Brent saved my life. I’d not seen it in years but I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much. I realized I had lots to live for."

Parrish says he is now on medication to treat his depression and that he is "determined to get help." The star of the hit comedy, Ricky Gervais, commented, saying "I am so pleased for him."
