Adam Lambert has called it quits with his boyfriend of three years, Sauli Koskinen, a Finnish television host, entertainment reporter and former participant on 2007's Finnish "Big Brother."

“It’s been kind of on its way out in the last couple of months,” the "American Idol" runner-up told South Florida Gay News on Friday.

Lambert, a runner-up on "American Idol's" eighth season, said that he and Sauli remained good friends.

I know it’s a cliché thing to say. But it’s totally true. I just gave him a coffee and bagel earlier today. He’s a great person and we’ve had an amazing couple of years together. Things have just run their course.

Lambert blamed their breakup on busy schedules and the stress of a long-distance relationship.

“I’ve been getting really busy and traveling a lot and and he’s been getting really busy because he has a show he’s filming for Finnish television," he said. "So we just decided to part ways.”

Lambert and Koskinen were arrested together in 2011 for fighting outside a bar in Finland. The two spent a night in jail.
