A teen driver, possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol, plowed through the front window of a popular Las Vegas restaurant during lunchtime Monday, injuring 10 people.

"It literally came up in the air into the building. When it came in to the building, it sounded like an explosion, like 9-11 or something" witness Jerushia Hilten told KTNV in Las Vegas, as authorities and emergency workers inspected the scene at The Egg & I restaurant.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the 1993 Lexus, driven by 18-year-old Gage Lindsey, went airborne before it smashed into the restaurant. Officials arrested Lindsey on DUI charges, felony reckless driving and felony hit and run, after the suspect and his passenger, 21-year-old David Roldan, tried to run away.

After they were handcuffed, witness Jean Guillaume said one of the men was “sitting there smiling and laughing like nothing happened.”

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was involved in this," the Egg & I's general manager Sarah Gehringer said.

All 10 victims sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.
