VIDEO: Rogue critter invades Swiss soccer match, chaos ensues

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

A wild, weasel-like creature called a pine marten rushed onto the field in the middle of a Swiss Super League soccer match between FC Thun and Zurich Sunday, causing such a fuss that the players attempted to capture the critter themselves.

Zurich defender Loris Benito finally caught the animal after a dramatic dive-catch, but was bitten as he carried it off the pitch. He handed it over to goalkeeper Davide Da Costa, who was wearing gloves.

"In hindsight, I was probably a little foolish," Benito said afterward. "You don’t know what sort of disease it might be carrying. It was painful."
