The new two-year deal announced this week will let "Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin develop and produce other work for HBO. Martin, author of the potentially seven-volume fantasy epic "A Song of Ice and Fire," will remain as a co-executive producer of "Game of Thrones."
Last month HBO released production stills from the upcoming third season of Game of Thrones. After huge ratings the first two seasons, HBO is drumming up excitement, likely expecting more of the same when the show returns March 31.
