At the end of Captain America: The First Avenger Chris Evan's Steve Rogers awoke from a seven-decade sleep to find everything familiar about the world completely changed.

He may have saved the world, but along the way, he lost the chance to live out his days with his lady-love, Peggy (Hayley Atwell), who presumably lived--and died--a normal life while Steve lay comatose and missed the entire second half of the 20th century.

Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell) lives out her long life, but not long enough to make an appearance in Winter Soldier.

So it's only logical that Peggy won't be making any miraculous appearances in the upcoming sequel, Captain America: Winter Soldier, which will take place, like The Avengers, in the present day.

Instead, the Captain will get a brand new leading lady, announced as television star Emily VanCamp, currently shredding enemies as "Hamptons Batman" Emily Thorne on Revenge, Deadline reported Friday.

Although there's no word yet on what kind of relationship, exactly, VanCamp's character will have with Rogers, if her Revenge character is any indication, her likely love interest leading lady will have a lot of fun drawing out the brooding super soldier from his heartbroken doldrums.

Also slated to appear in Captain America: Winter Soldier are Sebastian Stan, returning as the subtitular Winter Soldier who was once Steve Rogers' best pal Bucky Barns, and Toby Jones as HYDRA scientist Arnim Zola.

Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson have signed on to play their S.H.I.E.L.D./Avengers characters Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Agent Maria Hill and Nick Fury.

Anthony Mackie is set to play superhero Sam Wilson/Falcon in the character's first appearance in the Marvel Avengers film franchise.

Captain America: Winter Soldier is expected for release April 4, 2014.
