Furby is back

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Time to break out the Furbish dictionary. Hasbro brought back the once-ubiquitous Furby this Sunday, nearly 15 years after the furry robot-toy dominated 1998's Christmas shopping season.

Hasbro's press release warns us that Furby now has a "MIND OF ITS OWN," with new technology that makes the toy "develop one of several personalities base on how it's treated."

"Play nicely with FURBY and it may develop a sweet personality or pull, shake, and turn FURBY upside down and a mischievous demeanor may evolve," Hasbro explains in a statement that sounds like the beginning of every evil robot sci-fi movie ever.

In keeping with the times, the 2012 Furby comes with LED eyes and its very own iOS app.

You can also watch the new Furby interact with its 1998 predecessor in following video, courtesy of the Furby blog. (Yes, that exists.)
