Jeremy Lin plays streetball in Taiwan, wears Hello Kitty head [VIDEO]

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Jeremy Lin, whose parents are Taiwanese, took "Linsanity" to the streets of Taipei in August, jumping in on a local game of streetball. Cameras filmed the game and preceding hotel "breakout" for a goofy and charming scripted video posted to the star's official YouTube account.

Titled "A Late Night Escape in Taipei," Lin first flees the confines of his hotel with the help of giant Hello Kitty head and Golden State Warriors player David Lee.

Directed by CBS' Peter Radovich, the short clip mixes footage of Lin's game with its coverage on Taiwanese television.

"I just want to thank everybody for letting us come play with you guys. We really enjoyed it and hopefully continues to grow in Taiwan," Lin says to a gaping crowd after the game.

"That's pure basketball," he adds later.

Even before his meteoric rise to fame with the New York Knicks, Lin demonstrated a love for goofy video antics.

In November of 2011, when Lin was still sitting on the Golden State Warriors bench, the point guard posted a jokey video tutorial, "How to Get into Harvard."

"Step 1, get glasses," Lin says. "If you already have glasses, get bigger glasses."

Here's an early video of the basketball player easing into the filmmaking process, getting a few YouTube tips from a friend.
