March 6 (UPI) -- Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos tops Forbes annual billionaires list, released Tuesday, as President Donald Trump's ranking plummeted.

Bezos, with $112 billion, is the first to top $100 billion on the "World's Billionaires" list. He also made the list's biggest annual gain, reporting $39 billion more than last year. He owns Amazon, which he founded in a garage in Seattle in 1994.

Meanwhile, Trump, who became the first billionaire president in history last year, dropped to No. 766 on the list, with a $3.1 billion net worth. That's a $400,000 drop from his worth in 2017 when he was ranked No. 544.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates dropped to No. 2 with $90 billion. He had been in the top spot for four previous years. No. 3 is investor Warren Buffet, with $84 billion. Bernard Arnault, who oversees 70 brands, including Louis Vuitton and Sephora, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the top 5.

Overall, the list hit a record 2,208 billionaires from 72 countries and territories, including Hungary and Zimbabwe for the first time.

Their collective worth is $9.1 trillion, an 18 percent increase from last year.

On the list are 259 newcomers, who made money in a variety of ways, ranging from wedding dresses to toys to electric cars.
