Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Online retailer Amazon said it has removed listings for Holocaust-themed Christmas tree ornaments after they drew significant backlash.
Shoppers complained about the ornaments, which depicted the Auschwitz concentration camp. More than 1 million members of the Jewish faith were killed there by the Nazis during World War II.
The listing called them "the ideal city souvenir."
The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in Oswiecim, Poland, which honors the memories of those who died there, tweeted that selling such ornaments was "disturbing and disrespectful."
Amazon had deleted the listings Sunday, but the museum added, "sadly, it is not over yet," due to images of Auschwitz images on other items for sale online.
Spanish fashion brand Loewe was similarly criticized last week for selling an outfit that critics complained resembled the clothing worn by Jewish victims at German concentration camps.
