Grimes plays Matty, John's father and Whigham plays John's cousin. Mark Wahlberg played grown-up John Bennett in the two Ted films.

MacFarlane's prequel series is set in 1993 when John is 16. Peacock first announced the series in June.

Ubach, 46, has been acting since 1990. In 1993 she appeared in the movies Airbone and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. Ubach recently appeared on The Flight Attendant and Euphoria.

MacFarlane directed and co-wrote 2012's Ted and 2015's Ted 2. MacFarlane is writing and will direct the Peacock series. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh are also writing and will co-showrun with MacFarlane.
