Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Jimmy Fallon announced he will tape an episode of his New York-based Tonight Show in Puerto Rico next month.
The taping on the island, which was hit hard by hurricanes during the 2017 storm season, will coincide with a benefit performance of the stage musical Hamilton, which will feature its creator and original star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is Puerto Rican.
Fallon made the announcement Monday while Miranda was visiting Tonight to promote his new movie Mary Poppins Returns.
"With @lin_manuel and @HamiltonMusical, The Tonight Show is doing a special episode in Puerto Rico on January 15th! #FallonTonight," the talk show's official Twitter account said.
The message accompanied a video clip of Fallon telling Miranda: "You'll be our guest. We're going to air a special performance from Hamilton. We've got so much planned. So many cameos. It's going to be so fun. It's going to be a celebration of the life, the light, the spirit of Puerto Rico and its people and its culture. Puerto Rico is back and open for business."
