Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Pedro Pascal and Nick Nolte will lead the cast of the live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm confirmed Wednesday.

Pascal's and Nolte's casting in the sci-fi drama was rumored for weeks, but not confirmed until now.

"We're having a great time working with this incredibly talented group and excited for everyone to see what we're up to," writer and executive producer Jon Favreau said in a statement.

The Mandalorian will take place between the films, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The program's title refers to those from the planet of Mandalore, the home world of bounty hunters Jango Fett and his son Boba Fett.

The series will be available on the Disney+, the new streaming service set to debut next year.
