IFC to air 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' marathon Thursday

Nov. 17 (UPI) -- IFC said it is planning to air a 24-hour Pee-wee's Playhouse marathon for Thanksgiving.

"GUESS WHAT?!?! I have some exciting news! There's gonna be an all-day Pee-wee's Playhouse MARATHON on Thanksgiving Day on IFC!!! YES, ALL DAY!!" the Pee-wee Herman Twitter feed said.

Featuring Paul Reubens as the titular host, the classic children's program initially ran 1986 to 1990. It featured recurring characters such as Cowboy Curtis (Laurence Fishburne), Reba the Mail Lady (S. Epatha Merkerson), Miss Yvonne (Lynne Marie Stewart), Captain Carl (Phil Hartman), The King of Cartoons (William Marshall), Jambi the Genie (John Paragon), Ricardo (Vic Trevino) and Mrs. Rene (Suzanne Kent).

Among the Emmy-winning show's non-human characters were Chairry, Pterri, Conky, Magic Screen, Clocky, Cool Cat, Dirty Dog, Chicky Baby, Penny and the Dinosaur family.

The marathon of re-runs -- which will include the beloved Christmas at Pee-wee's Playhouse -- is to start Thursday at 6 a.m.
